Speech Intelligibility Expectations 

Speech intelligibility is the degree to which the childā€™s speech can be understood by others. It can be affected by the childā€™s rate of speech, ability to produce speech sounds, and voice quality. The following table presents the percentage of the childā€™s speech that should be understood by strangers according to their age.
